How To Clean Up Cookies On Windows
I got an email today asking how to clean up cookies from a computer with a Windows operating system. Though Windows has some internal tools, I have found a free application that works much better for this.
The name is "CCleaner". I usually find the most current version online by typing "CCleaner free" in a Google search. The newest version is usually available for download from the CNET site. Recently, CNET posted a complete write-up and video of CCleaner on their site along with the download.
A special tip. When on the CNET site, don't get confused with the wrong download as you're likely to see many ads. You want to click the "Download Now" link below the actual text for "CCleaner" (may be displayed something like "CCleaner 3.01.1327", where the numbers indicate the specific version and release number of the application). Clicking the "Download Now" link will bring you to a new page. At the top of the new page (among many other new ads) you will see the text "Your download will begin in a moment...". Be patient and in a few seconds a download window should appear (see illustration above). If not, repeat the process or contact me for help. :-)
I hope this is helpful to anyone needing to clean up their cookies!
